Above is a photo I took of a blood moon.
Photography is a great way of taking pictures of things in the moment. GCSE photography means we will use photographic equipment and other things such as photographic paper which if exposed to light can create original and unique pictures. Close up shots are great for capturing more detail in an object or person and far distance is good for taking a photo of a wide range of different things. Both zoomed and zoom out can change the feeling and atmosphere of a photo even if it is of the same thing. E.g a flower. |
What we will be doing in our GCSE course:We will be studying different techniques on how to take photos. For example, making and using a pinhole camera, taking abstract and unique photos and even things like moving images.
Photography isn't as easy as people may think, it's not as simple as just pointing a camera and clicking a button. Everyone can take a photograph but it takes time to be able to take unique photos. You need to find good lighting, good angles, different types of things to photograph otherwise the photo will more or less look like any other photograph. You want to make it as original as possible because then it wil be more eye catching. In this GCSE course we will learn how to use the dark room and how to process photographs. We will also be learning how to do cyanotypes by using photographic paper. We will also be learning about Photograms/Rayographs, by using light-sensitive material (photographic paper) and placing objects on, then exposing light to it, creating a photo. This will all be under unit 1. For unit 2 we will be doing more independent work that involves a particular theme. Photography can lead to further education in 6th form where you can learn more types of techniques and even learn more about the topics you've studied in GCSE. Photography can lead onto many jobs like a newspaper photographer, a nature photographer, paparazzi and much more. However photography is one of the harder and most competitive jobs to get. |
